ICPI has developed Permeable Design Pro, software that integrates hydrological and structural solutions for permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP into one application. The program calculates inflow and outflow from PICP under a variety of design options and base thickness required for supporting traffic. Permeable Design Pro integrates two disparate civil engineering areas – hydrological and pavement design- into one software program. This will enable pavement engineers to better appreciate the drainage design factors for on-site sustainable stormwater management, and stormwater engineers to better understand factors in pavement design.

Permeable Design Pro enables hydrological and structural designs with full base exfiltration into the soil subgrade, partial base exfiltration (some infiltration, some drainage via pipes) and no base exfiltration for filtering only and potential water harvesting. These three approaches enable users to design PICP in a range of soil infiltration rates and site conditions.
